A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Tunji Bolaji, has called on the party hierarchy to save the party from imminent implosion in the state.

Bolade implored the Sen. Abdullahi Adamu-led national leaders to wade into the crisis rocking the party in Oyo, noting that failure to address the conflict could lead to mass defection from the party,

Tunji in a statement on Friday in Ibadan, cited the recent defection of top guber aspirant, Joseph Tegbe, as a sign of unpleasant things to come the party’s ways.

He said that the recent defection of Mr Tegbe to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should serve as a wake up call to the national leadership on the dire situation of the situation.

“The APC national leadership must quickly intervene in the crisis to stop further exit of other prominent members. Clearly, if nothing is done quickly, the party will see further exit.

“Many are dissatisfied with the present scenario, believing that the national leadership, especially the previous Caretaker Executive was complicit in the crisis in Oyo APC and other states chapters,” he said.

Tunji, an aide to former Oyo governor Abiola Ajimobi, is seeking to represent Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency in the National Assembly.

He enjoined all warring groups to be ready to make compromise to accommodate each other.

Tunji said that inability to resolve the problem would keep the APC in opposition in the state.

“Due to the crisis, the APC can’t play its role as the opposition party expected to curb the excesses of the state government that has continued to mortgage the future of the state through excessive loans,” Mr Tunji noted.

He said APC that should keep the government on its toes was bedevilled by its own self-made crisis.

“Efforts must be made to quickly resolve all the issues causing the present problem in the state chapter of the party,” Mr Tunji said.
