Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have rescued a man identified as Olayinka Owolabi who attempted to kill himself by hanging in Ilorin, the state capital.

The state police spokesperson, Ajayi Okasanmi, who made this known in a statement said a passersby who sighted Olayinka on Thursday night at the Checking Point area, Ilorin, while tying a rope on a tree to put round his neck reported the incident at Budo Nuhu Police Station opposite the Ilorin International Airport.

Okasanmi said Olayinka blamed his action on the harsh economic situation in the country, adding that he was tired of life, having lost his job and parents.

The PPRO said, “At about 6pm on April 21, 2022, a passerby sighted what looked like a man hanging on a tree close to the main road at the NAFSAT area along Checking Point bus stop, Ilorin. His (passerby’s) report at the Budo Nuhu Police Station elicited a quick response by policemen that rushed to the scene.
