Harris, 59, is the latest high ranking U.S. official to contract the novel virus after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi..

“Today, Vice President Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on rapid and PCR tests.

“She has exhibited no symptoms, will isolate and continue to work from the vice president’s residence,” Allen said in a statement

Ms Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, tested positive for the virus in mid-March, with Ms Harris forced to cancel an event with the president at the time, though testing negative.

However,  President Joe Biden’s health is in good shape as there are no concerns of possible infection  because he has not been in close contact with Harris due to their recent itinerary.
