Farah Dagogo, the member representing Degema-Bonny Federal Constituency, has been remanded in the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre by a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.

The directives were issued by the trial judge, Justice Chinwendu Nworgu, after Farah Dagogo, who was taken to court by four officers who carried him by hand, was unable to enter his plea due to his poor condition.

Before adjourning the case till the 16th of May, 2022, Justice Nworgu ruled that Dagogo, one of the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship hopefuls, be treated by his personal physician in order for him to take his plea on the next adjourned date.

Dagogo, who was brought into the courtroom unconscious, was subsequently taken out on a stretcher police ambulance.

Journalists were also denied access to the courtroom to cover the proceedings.

Following an ex-parte motion by his attorney, a Federal High Court ordered the release of the House of Representatives member on Thursday.

However, speaking to the press outside the courtroom, the state prosecution attorney, Chidi Ekeh, denied knowledge of any bail granted to Farah Dagogo, claiming that the Federal High Court lacks the “right to try a case against the state”.

Earlier, Dagogo’s lawyer, Innocent Ekwu, threatened to sue the Nigerian Police Force for failing to release his client, who had been granted bail by the Federal High Court, citing contempt of court.

Meanwhile, Farah Dagogo’s personal physician, Doctor Kenneth Dawariboko, has claimed that his patient’s health is in a “very critical state”, saying that he was allowed to see him, but was not part of the team of doctors attending to him despite the demand of his patient.
