Nasiru Gawuna, the Deputy Governor of Kano State, has been announced as the All Progress Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the state’s general election in 2023.
Gawuna received 2,289 votes to defeat Sha’aban Sharada, a member of the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, who received 30 votes.
At the conclusion of the exercise held on Thursday night at the Indoor Sports Complex, Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, the Returning Officer and Chairman of the APC Election Committee, Alhaji Tijjani Kaura, proclaimed Gawuna the winner.
He said that 2,339 total votes were cast while 2,319 votes were valid.
Kaura commended security personnel, journalists, contestants, and party executives for the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
