One Egbebiyi Temitope has been arraigned before a magistrates’ court sitting in Ogba for raping his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.

The 20-year-old accused and the victim are reside on Wahab Larinde Street, Mafoluku area of Oshodi.

The police have slammed on Temitope a two-count charge of rape and impregnating an under-aged girl and if found guilty may be jailed 14 years.

The prosecutor, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, told the court that the accused had raped the girl in the first instance and warned her not to tell anyone and thereafter continuously had sex with her, but things went south after the girl became ill and a medical test revealed that she was pregnant.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubenije, ordered his remand in a correctional centre pending the DPP’s report and adjourned to July 13.
