There was palpable trepidation and mayhem on Monday at Nduegu Achi community in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State when rampaging gunmen invaded the area.
The gunmen reportedly killed one person and abducted many.
It was gathered that the attackers also burnt many houses while they took the abducted persons to an unknown destination.
The people of the area fled the community for fear of being killed by the gunmen.
An eyewitness, who spoke to journalists in Abakaliki, said that the gunmen invaded the community and started shooting sporadically and in the process killed one person and abducted many others.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebonyi State Command, SP Chris Anyanwu, said the command was yet to be briefed on the incident.
