The murder of a police officer in Suleja, Niger State, has been attributed to the Boko Haram faction backed by the Islamic State, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd.

WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the distance between Suleja and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, is less than 20 kilometers.

The group claimed that “soldiers of the caliphate” using automatic weapons carried out the attack.

The policeman’s rifle was taken away, according to ISWAP.

The group claimed to have killed three policemen and a business motorcyclist in Suleja in May 2022.

The slain officers were identified as Hosea Saba, Yahaya Yakubu and Aminu Sani, all attached to the B Division command in Suleja.

This is the second time ISWAP will be claiming an attack in Niger State.

If the attack was executed by the insurgents as claimed, it, therefore, indicates the expansion of the terror group, beyond the North-East to other parts of Northern Nigeria.
