Sammy Kuffour, a former defender for Bayern Munich, has entered the never-ending argument over Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain and Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United as the superior player.
Kuffour made an intriguing assessment of Messi and Ronaldo, claiming that the Argentine captain is much more talented than the captain of Portugal.
The Ghanaian legend, who chose Messi over Ronaldo, also emphasised the strengths of each Ballon d’Or winner.
Speaking in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah TV (via Ghana Web), Kuffour said: “For me, there have not been players like them in the same era and they pushed each other very well.
“You could see that Messi is way ahead of Ronaldo in terms of talent, but Ronaldo has used hard work to catch up.”
Ronaldo and Messi are arguably among the top five greatest players in football history.
The duo have won 12 Ballon d’Or awards between themselves in the past 15 years.
