Pre-season: Man United thrash Liverpool 4-0 in Ten Hag’s first game in charge

Erik Ten Hag got his reign as Manchester United manager off to a perfect start, after leading his side to a 4-0 win against Liverpool in their first pre-season game played in Bangkok, Thailand on Tuesday.

United were up by three goals at half time thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho, Fred and Anthony Martial before Facundo Pellistri rounded completed the rout with less than 20 minutes left.

Ten Hag put out a strong United starting eleven that David De Gea, Victor Lindelof, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Fred, Scot McTominay, Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Then in the second half, the likes of new signing Tyrell Malacia, Amad Diallo, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek, Anthony Elanga and Aaron Wan-Bissaka came on.

For Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup had the likes of were Allison, Jordan Henderson, Luis Diaz, Joe Gomez and Roberto Firmino.

The German coach then threw in regulars like Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho, Ibrahima Konate, Naby Keita and Thiago Alcantara.

United broke the deadlock in the 12th minute through Sancho before Fred added the second in the 30th minute.

Just three minutes after Fred’s goal, Martial made it 3-0 while substitute Pellestri added the fourth in the 76th minute.

United will continue their pre-season with another friendly against Melbourne Victory in Australia on Friday while Liverpool will face Crystal Palace also on Friday in Singapore.
