Four motorcyclists have been remanded in prison over the alleged murder of a 37-year-old sound engineer, David Imoh over N100 change at the NITEL Junction, Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State.
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Imoh was lynched and burnt to death after a misunderstanding ensued over the N100 balance with one of the commercial motorcyclists.
The defendants, Dairus Ayuba, Anthony Chigozie, Susan Moses and Joseph Tella, were arraigned before Justice I. O. Harrison of the Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square, on Wednesday.
The suspects were charged with six counts of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder and grievous harm.
Justice Harrison remanded them after their arraignment.
The Director of Public Prosecutions, Dr Babajide Martins, told the court that the defendants and others still at large conspired to commit the offences.
Martins said the defendants “unlawfully killed one David Imoh, aged 37, by beating him severely and setting him ablaze.”
The prosecutor also told the court that the defendants attempted to murder one Frank Olatunji and Philip Balogun, a keyboardist, by beating them to a pulp.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following their pleas, the DPP asked the court for a trial date.
Justice Harrison remanded them in custody and adjourned the case till October 19, 2022, for commencement of trial.
