Oyo State Government has sanctioned some head teachers for collecting illegal fees.
They also denied pupils access to examination halls in the ongoing Public Primary Schools Unified Examinations.
Nureni Adeniran, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) chairman issued a statement on Monday in Ibadan.
Adeniran said the officials of Methodist Basic School (School one to five), Gangansi, were found culpable in the illegal collection.
The chairman told the public that the Seyi Makinde administration already abolished the collection of development levies in all schools.
Noting that Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) can contribute to the development of learning centers, he said it must not affect pupils’ education.
“No child should be discriminated against in the state education sector,” Adeniran declared.
The board revealed some parents reported that the head teachers stopped their children from entering the examination hall for failing to pay the N100.
Adeniran said the School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) issued the directive through a popular radio station in Ibadan.
“For denying Gov. Seyi Makinde’s pupils access to write examinations, queries have been issued to head-teachers of the affected schools,” he announced.
