Students of the Ladoke Akintola University Technology, Ogbomosho and some town youths are currently staging a public protest in Ogbomoso.

According to PUNCH report, the news of the alleged killing of the LAUTECH Final year student, Rachael Opadele, and the hotelier, Olugbenga Owolabi sparked the protest.

Although there is no confirmation about the killing from the police yet, sources close to the student’s family said the two of them were shot dead after the kidnappers had collected a N5m ransom.

The okada rider, who took the ransom to the kidnapper’s den, was reportedly shot, but the sources said he was still alive.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached.

When contacted, the Student Union President of LAUTECH, Anuoluwa Adeboye, said he had not confirmed the news from the police.

When contacted, the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis, however, confirmed the incident to PUNCH correspondent, saying, “It is true.”

Multiple sources said the Ogbomoso Ilorin road had been taken over by the angry protesters who are protesting the alleged killing of the victims.

The two victims were abducted on Thursday night at the hotel located in the Abaa community in Surulere Local Government Area.
