The reported transformation of the State High Court Complex into a grazing zone by some Fulani herdsmen has made residents of Koko Community in the Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State to raise concerns.

It was gathered that the recent suspension of court activities at the complex due to the damaged roof of the facility gave the herdsmen the audacity to take over the place, Punch reports.

Lamenting further, the residents said that the dilapidated state of the public infrastructure had also resulted in decline in socioeconomic development in the local government area.

The locals appealed to the authorities to, “as a matter of urgency, see to the renovation of the abandoned court facility in order to evacuate the herdsmen from the facility.”

According to them, this would alleviate the burden of the high court staff, who paid exorbitant transportation fare from Koko to Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area, virtually on a daily basis.

One of resident of the community, Mr. Emmanuel Oritsejolone, alleged that the presiding judge of the High Court had been compelled, as an aftermath of the deterioration, to relocate all court activities in the Division to Oghara in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

Oritsejolone said, “It is so sad that a state government establishment has been abandoned because of a damaged roof in Warri North.”
