Over 192 suspected vandals have been arrested by the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, led by Commandant Akinsanya Iskilu Abiodun.

The command who revealed this in a statement signed by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Dsc Emeka Peters, disclosed that they also recovered 52 tankers, 11 articulated trucks, Toyota Sequoia jeeps, Sienna bus, mini buses, saloon cars, and a 50mm diameter hose, all used in the illegal trade in petroleum product, crude oil theft, and pipeline vandalism.

To speed up the trials and prosecutions of suspected crude oil thieves brought before the court, the NSCDC also called on the judiciary to attend to all its cases fast.

According to the NSCDC image maker, “That if these suspects are being sentenced to jail regularly and timely, it will serve as a deterrent to others not to take to crime.”

The NSCDC also disclosed that it would perform excellently well if the corps is well equipped and necessary logistics were adequately provided in order to be able to crush the vandals carrying sophisticated weapons.
