Bournemouth have sacked their manager, Scott Parker after a string of woeful performances in their recent matches.

Parker’s dismissal follows 9-0 thumping by Liverpool in the Premier League over the weekend.

The Premier League club made the announcement in a statement on Tuesday morning via its website.

Parker will be replaced in the interim by former Bournemouth midfielder, Gary O’Neil.

The 41-year-old is now the first manager to get the boot in the 2022/23 season after losing his last three games of the season at the helm.

The statement, which quoted club owner, Maxim Demin, reads in part, “AFC Bournemouth can announce that the club has parted company with head coach Scott Parker.

“Gary O’Neil will take interim charge of the team and will be assisted by Shaun Cooper and Tommy Elphick.”

Parker’s open criticism of the club’s management after the defeat at Anfield may have contributed to his dismissal.

The former Newcastle midfielder had expressed his dissatisfaction with the manner the club had gone about its business in the summer transfer window, adding that his team is not equipped with the right set of players to compete in the Premier league.
