The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has assured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to its mandate and vision of a Nigeria free of economic and financial crimes through the use of its Establishment Act and other existing laws.

The anti-graft agency reiterated its commitment via a statement issued on Wednesday.

According to the EFCC, all of its operational activities are always in line with global best practises.

The statement continues, “Issues of arrest, detention, arraignment, and prosecution of suspects are handled in accordance with the Commission’s Standard Operating Procedure.” The EFCC is fulfilling every international standard of law enforcement in all its ramifications.

“On this note, members of the public are enjoined to ignore any blackmail, campaign of calumny, tissue of lies, and other ploys being employed by corrupt elements to cast aspersion on the good works of the Commission. The EFCC will continue to keep faith with its mandate and strengthen every legitimate activity of individuals, groups and organizations.

“All the outreach contacts of the Commission are always open for inquiries, complaints, and petitions.”

The EFCC issued the statement after Tuesday’s #EndEFCC protest embarked upon by some youths in Delta State turned violent and bloody.

The protesters alleged incessant harassment, molestation, and arrest by officials of the anti-graft agency.

The protest, which caused serious commotion and panic took place at the Otovwodo junction of Ughelli community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.

It allegedly involved suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as ‘Yahoo Boys.

According to reports, more than three youths were shot by personnel of the state command of the Nigeria Police Force.
