According to PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, there won’t be nothing like strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike under his administration.

Speaking to supporters and party leaders on Saturday in Edo State, the former vice president declared that, if elected, his priorities would be bringing the nation together and addressing the current state of insecurity.

The PDP standard bearer, flanked by other party heavyweights, also mentioned his campaign promises to revive all failing industries and establish obligatory basic and secondary education, all of which he claimed the current administration has failed to achieve.

Atiku also noted that under his watch all the children of school age must be in school.

The candidate also promised to liaise with the private sector to revive and link rail lines across the country for easy access and movement across the country day and night.

He called on the people of Edo to stick with the PDP as they had always done, promising that they would reap the price of their loyalty.

Criticising the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku said the ruling party has destroyed the country, “destroyed the economy of this country. They have destroyed your educational opportunities. They have destroyed your job opportunities. APC is not a party to the supported. Therefore, we call on you to continue to be loyal to PDP and PDP will be loyal to you.

“We will send back all our eligible children to school. They must go to school; every child must go to school. If you remember, during the PDP years, we established compulsory primary school education from primary to secondary school and we are tasking Nigerians to educate these children.

“But this government is not keeping to that promise. We promise you; every child must go to school and our universities will not go on strike, we promise you that one by the grace of God.

“Again, we promise to revive the economy of this country. We will make sure that our industries, our factories, resume production in this country. We will make sure that there are enough jobs for our youths who are passing out from the schools. This is what we mean by reviving the economy.”
