Gunmen attack Plateau village, kill two

At least two persons were killed on Sunday after suspected miliatia attacked NTV community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State

It was gathered that the incident, which happened on Sunday night, spurred outrage in the community om Monday.

The residents of the community who were angered by the killings blocked the Bokkos -Barki Ladi road on Monday in protest, calling on the government to halt the activities of the gunmen in their locality.

The development was said to have caused gridlock on the busy highway while motorists were stranded on the road for hours.

He said, “I was on my way this morning (Monday ) to my place of work at the Plateau state University , Bokkos.

“When we got to the NTV village,we discovered that the road was blocked by protesters with many of the people shouting and crying.

“When we enquired what the problem was, they told us that some gunmen who they believe were Fulani attacked their community last night(Sunday) and killed two persons.

“And because of that, the villagers came out and blocked the Bokkos -Barkin Ladi road which caused motorists and other road users to be stranded for hours due to the blockage.” Punch quoted a a worker at the Plateau state University, Bokkos, to have said.

The University worker said that it took the intervention of some security agents who arrived the village before the protesters could reopen the road.
