Six people have died as a result of a fire that started in the early hours of today on Victoria Island in Lagos’ Adeola Odeku neighborhood.
The fire destroyed a building that was thought to be occupied by a bank, and cars were also seen burning in the blaze.
Firefighters from the nearby Eko Hotel and Suites were chased away by bystanders who pelted them with stones.
At the time of this report, it was not clear if the fire outbreak had been brought under control.

In other news, a woman was killed in a cooking gas explosion at the Tabernacle Area, Egbe Garage in Kwara State’s Omu-aran Irepodun Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Monday around 10:35 a.m., while she was attempting to prepare food for her family.
Firefighters were able to quickly bring the situation under control and save the victim’s husband, who was also trapped inside the fire explosion.
