A butcher, Yunusa Inuwa, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stabbing his neighbour, Rabiu Mohammed to death, over broken plate in the Yola North area of Adamawa State.

Inuwa reportedly attacked and murdered Mohammed by stabbing him on the neck for breaking his younger brother’s wife’s plate around Tafida neighbourhood in Yola.

The police told the court on Tuesday, that on the ill-fated day, Inuwa returned home from his business place to meet his brother’s wife lamenting over the broken plate, when he swiftly vowed to teach the perpetrator a bitter lesson.

Justice Ishaku Haliru of High IV, has ordered his remand after pleading “not guilty” to statement and particulars of the offence as read, sequel to an application by the prosecuting counsel, I. S. Barde (Senior State Counsel 1).

Consequently, the prosecuting counsel applied for a date to assemble witnesses to prove his case.

On his part, Counsel to the defendant, Mohammed Abubakar, of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria, did not object to the application.

The matter has been adjourned to November 15, 2022 for hearing.
