The 2022/23 Champions League group stage has concluded, and the draw will take place soon to determine how the tournament’s knockout stages will unfold.

The English Premier League, Germany’s Bundesliga, and three Italian Seria A teams all advance to the last 16.

While two teams from Portugal’s Primera Liga and one each from Spain’s La Liga, Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League, and France’s Ligue 1 advanced to the next round of the tournament.

So far this season, there have been some classic games and massive upsets. Manchester City and Real Madrid have qualified for the last 16, but European giants such as Barcelona and Juventus will not compete again this season in Europe’s premier club competition.

How does the 2022/23 Champions League last 16 draw work?

The eight group winners are seeded in the Champions League last 16, while the runners-up are unseeded. Seeded teams are pitted against unseeded opponents, with the former hosting the second leg of the match.

Teams from the same organization or group cannot be pitted against each other. Second-placed Liverpool, for example, cannot face group winners and Premier League colleagues Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, or Manchester City, or Napoli, whom they faced in the group stage.
