The Zamfara Police have reaffirmed their commitment to provide adequate security to secure the protection of the state’s higher institutions of learning.

When visiting Federal University Gusau, Federal College of Education (Technical), and Police Secondary School in Gusau, the state capital, the commissioner of police, Kolo Yusuf, said this.

This was said in a statement released on Thursday in Gusau by the Command’s spokesman, Muhammad Shehu.

Kolo said the measure was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali, to provide adequate security to schools across the country.

In compliance with the IGP’s directives, Mr Kolo Yusuf led Police Tactical Team to Federal University Gusau, Federal College of Education (Technical) and Police Secondary School Gusau for confidence building patrol.

“During the visit, the Police Commissioner met with the management of the schools, who took him round some of the strategic locations in their respective schools which were instantly assessed for security mapping, to safeguard lives and property.

Kolo also made some paramount observations and advised the schools management appropriately,” the statement said.

The CP reiterated commitment of the Command to the security and safety of all the schools across the state.

He urged the staff and students to be security conscious, and report suspicious movements to the police and other security agencies.

The statement further quoted the management of the schools as commending IGP and the police for their concern to the security of the schools.

“They promised to give all necessary support to the police and other security agencies in ensuring the safety of their schools,” the statement disclosed.
