The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapter in Zamfara State has vowed that nothing will prevent the party from taking over the state during the 2019 elections.

The Zamfara PDP said the state’s All Progressive Congress (APC) should stop celebrating the PDP’s decision not to run in the upcoming election.

A Federal High Court in Gusau, Zamafara State, has barred the PDP from fielding a governorship candidate in Zamfara for the 2023 elections.

According to an order issued by Justice Aminu Bappa on Tuesday, November 8, the PDP does not have a valid candidate for the Zamfara governorship election.

It overturned the primary election on May 25, 2022, that produced Dauda Lawal as a candidate, making it the second time the court has overturned the 2023 PDP primary in Zamfara state.

Despite the court’s decision, a PDP chieftain in the state, Ibrahim Abubakar, told the Daily Post that the APC should stop celebrating because of the ruling.

According to Abubakar, the state’s insecurity is sufficient for the PDP to win by a landslide. said the party must fight the ruling APC at all levels in the 2023 general elections despite all odds.

He claimed that the party has appealed the High Court decision because it lacks constitutional authority to prevent the party from fielding its preferred candidate.

He said;

I want you to know now that we have gone to Appeal Court because the Federal High Court has no constitutional power to stop us from filling in our preferred governorship candidate.

We all know what is happening in the state and we are not bothered because we are coming in to salvage the state. Are you happy with the insecurity situation you found yourself in Zamfara State? They know that they have failed to protect the lives and properties of the citizens, and that is why they are making every move to distract people’s attention.

We are not boasting because we are not Allah but we are aware that politics is a game of numbers and we are also aware that the majority of the electorates are with us because APC has failed the people woefully in all the sectors.
