The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself and its security outfit, Eastern Security Network (ESN), from the murder of Obudi Agwa, the traditional ruler of Oguta Council in Imo State.

WITHIN NIGERIA, the separatist group revealed that the late monarch had no issues with IPOB and ESN.

IPOB condemned the heinous killing of the traditional ruler and stated that it had no involvement in the barbaric act, adding that the group could not be involved in the killings of innocent Biafrans.

The reaction comes in response to President Muhammadu Buhari’s call for the police and other security agencies to thoroughly investigate the traditional ruler’s murder and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Recall that gunmen suspected to be community youths stormed the monarch’s palace on Monday and opened fire on a meeting of village leaders, killing Eze Asor and two others.

However, in a statement signed by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the group also urged authorities to properly investigate and identify those responsible for the act.

IPOB said:

HRH Eze (Dr) Ignatius Asor of Obudi Agwa of Oguta had no problem with IPOB and ESN. IPOB and ESN don’t kill our own.

IPOB has no hand in this barbarism and we cannot be involved in killing innocent citizens of Biafran that we are dying and going to prison to save. We commiserate with the families of the Monarch and those murdered in cold blood at Obudi Agwa in Oguta LGA, Imo State.

Command spokesman of the police in Imo State, CSP Micheal Abattam should stop their usual public deception and properly investigate and identify the killers of this Royal Father instead of blaming IPOB. The game of arranging innocent people and having their claim to be IPOB members or ESN operatives so as to justify their blackmail is over.

We are urging all Traditional Rulers, and Religious Leaders in Biafra Land to understand that there is danger and all should beef up their personal securities. There is danger ahead because our enemies are relentlessly extorting and waging war against our leaders.
