Former England manager Glenn Hoddle predicted that Cristiano Ronaldo would go all out in Qatar to disprove Manchester United.

Hoddle believes that the World Cup has arrived at the perfect time for Ronaldo, 37, and that what is happening at club level will provide him with extra motivation there.

“I think there’s a real determination about Ronaldo to prove Man United wrong, to prove to everyone world that he’s still one of the best players in the world,” he told Metro.

“So I think this has come at a great time for Portugal and they can feed off that.”

According to Hoddle, Portugal have a strong team and if coach Fernando Santos could put out a well-balanced XI and they supply Ronaldo the opportunities and create chances for him to score many goals, adding that the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward could have a wonderful tournament.

“For me, he’s still one of the best finishers that United have got,” Hoddle said, adding that he does not see anyone as good as Ronaldo in the Red Devils’ squad.
