Lagos hotelier and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Chief Julius Ama Oji (alias Ochiri), has narrated how he narrowly escaped being shot last Saturday by men suspected to be Ebube Agu operatives in Ebonyi State.

Oji said he was on his way to his hometown when his convoy was attack attacked and two young men, Samuel Okam and Michael Oji, were shot and are receiving treatment.

The Ebube Agu outfit in Edda had allegedly accompanied the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Stanley Oko Emegha, who is also the Chief Security Consultant of the regional outfit, to a burial at his hometown, The Nation reports.

“Two people were shot. My security detail was very active so I just managed to escape. The two guys are still in the hospital receiving treatment.

“They shot at one of the cars following me and shot two guys on the bike, then they opened the car that was following and that was the car I use often.

“I used one of the Prado jeeps I brought from Lagos. It was the first time I would use it so I believe they did not know that I was not in the other car.

“I believe I was their target because they knew it was my convoy. I have reported the matter to the police. I called the Commissioner of Police myself.”

Emegha asked if our reporter saw the people allegedly shot.

“Did you see the people, which hospital is there?” he queried before cutting the call.

The state police spokesperson, Chris Anyanwu, said the report was not on his table.

“I have not been officially informed. I only got the information when a journalist called to ask me.“

When told that the victim whose convoy was attacked said he called the Commissioner of Police to inform him, Mr Anyanwu said: “If he called the Commissioner, that means the Police are working on it.”
