Argentina captain Lionel Messi’s agent, Marcelo Mendez, has dismissed reports that his client is on the verge of joining Inter Miami when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer.
According to reports, Messi, who inspired Argentina to a 2-0 World Cup victory over Mexico last weekend, will leave PSG on a free transfer.
Mendez responded to the speculation by calling it “fake news.”
“It’s false,” Mendez told CNN when asked about the reports. “It’s fake news.
“There is no negotiation for Lionel to join Inter Miami next season.”
Despite Mendez’s denial, Inter Miami remain one of the favourites to sign Messi, who already owns a house in the city and has holidayed there on different occasions with his family.
