The former senator representing Kaduna Central district has condemned the allege arrest of a student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa, Aminu Adamu over a statement he made on the First Lady, Aisha Buhari.

Recall that Adamu made a tweet in June 2022, writing in Hausa “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi” which means ‘The mother has got fatter by eating masses’ money’.

The young man was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) within his campus on November 8 and was only allowed to speak to his father, Shalele Azare Adamu.

Reacting to the development, Sani said the action of the DSS is against the spirit and letters of democracy.

He noted that the present government and their supporters institutionalized trolling, name calling and attack on personalities on social media but are now allergic to such treatment.

Sani opined that those in power today would be languishing behind the bars if previous administrations had made it a point of duty to arrest and torture those who criticise them.

He wrote, “If the past administration has arrested and jailed people for tweets, many of those in power today would have still be behind bars

“They don’t want to have a taste of the food they cooked. They are allergic to criticism.”
