Federal Government Announces Resumption Date For Abuja–Kaduna Train Service

The President Muhammadu Buhari-led government announced the resumption of the Abuja-Kaduna train service on Thursday.

WITHIN NIGERIA, it was learned that the train service would resume on December 5, 2022.

Fidet Okhiria, Managing Director of Nigeria Railway Corporation, announced on Thursday.

According to Okhiria, everything is in place for the services to resume.

Okhiria, on the other hand, advised passengers who wish to travel via the service to begin updating their mobile app on December 3 to successfully book the ride.

He also stated that the services would begin with two train rides from Abuja to Kaduna and vice versa.

Okhiria said;

AK 1 will depart Idu Station at 9:45 am and arrive at Rigasa Station at 11:53 am.

KA 2 will depart Rigasa at 8:00 am and arrive at Idu station at 10:17 am.

AK 3 will depart Idu Station at 3:30 pm and arrive at Rigasa Station at 5:38 pm.

And KA 4 will depart Rigasa at 2 pm and arrive at Idu Station at 4:07 pm.

He assured passengers of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property on board its train at all times.

Recall that during the train’s test run on Sunday, the Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Sambo, directed that Nigerians without a National Identification Number would not be allowed to board.

Sambo stated that the security measures to be put in place before the start of services were 90% complete.
