Bank staff slumps and dies in Lagos

A staff of Fidelity Bank, Emmanuel Ebere, slumped and died at the Awolowo, Ikoyi branch in Lagos State.

Ebere, who was attached to the Information and Communication Technology unit, was rushed to the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, where doctors confirmed him dead.

According to Vanguard, the news of Ebere’s death cast a gloom over the bank as his colleagues went about their daily routine with an expression of despondency.

It was gathered that the bank’s Regional Security Officer, (names withheld ) alerted policemen at the Ikoyi Division of the incident.

The state police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundenyi, who confirmed the incident, said it occurred at about 6.30 am on Wednesday.

He said: “Based on the report, a team of detectives from the Ikoyi Division visited the hospital and examined the corpse. No mark of violence was seen on the body. Corpse has been evacuated and deposited at the Marina General Hospital morgue for autopsy.”

Meanwhile, one of the workers hired by Everlift Company was electrocuted while working on an elevator at a site on 9, Alexander road, in Ikoyi area of Lagos.

The electrocution incident was also reported at the Ikoyi division by the contractor working on the site.

Hundenyi disclosed that two workers: Samson Gbemileke,32 and Henry Dozie, 37 , were electrocuted while working on the elevator.

Both victims according to him were rushed to Ever Care hospital in Ikoyi, where Henry Dozie was confirmed dead, while the second victim survived

The PPRO also confirmed the incident. He said the corpse had been deposited in the Island General hospital morgue, Marina for autopsy, adding that investigations into both incidents were ongoing.
