Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has promised that his administration will continue to make every effort to raise the state’s educational standards. He claims that this is what led him to name education as one of the main pillars of government.

Speaking at the 2022 Christmas Carol Service with the theme “Joy to the world” at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, Makinde made this statement.

He continued by saying that while the speed of development in other areas will not slow down, his administration would continue to devote resources to enhancing the education sector.

He claims that the government has set the stage for the state’s human development index to continue to improve.

The governor also used the occasion to announce that the state government would pay the 13th month salary to workers on or before 31 December as it had been doing since the inception of the administration in 2019.

Speaking on some of the strides recorded by the administration, especially in the education sector, Governor Makinde said that with the upgrade of the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a University of Education, the state now had a state-owned conventional university and two specialised universities.
