The Gubernatorial Candidate of Accord, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, has urged the electorates to abstain from violence and vote buying in the general elections in 2023 as Nigerians and the rest of the globe celebrate the New Year.

In his New Year’s address, Chief Adelabu made this statement, which was made public by the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organization (BACO).

He claimed that the previous year had been difficult for the nation, particularly in terms of security and the global economic crisis.

“We must give thanks to God for the gift of life despite the numerous security and economic issues the nation is currently facing.

“The year 2023 is important and significant in the life of Nigerians because two critical exercises, the general elections and population and housing census will be conducted towards the advancement of the country.

“These two critical decisions are important for national development, especially the 2023 general elections, which is major factor that will determine the fate of the country and states in term of governance and general well being of the masses,” Adelabu said.

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria also appealed to politicians and their followers to shun any act that is capable of truncating the Nigerian nascent democracy.
