Expect Thick Dust-Haze Weather Conditions For Three Days – NiMet Warns Nigerians

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned Nigerians to expect dust-haze weather conditions across the country between Monday and Wednesday.

According to the agency, a thick dust haze with horizontal visibility of fewer than 1000m will be experienced over the northern region beginning Monday.

WITHIN NIGERIA reported that NiMet predicted that moderate dust haze with a horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is expected over the North Central region, with prospects of horizontal visibility of less than or equal to 1000m over parts of Niger during the forecast period in its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja.

During the forecast period, there will be a thick dust haze on Tuesday with horizontal visibility of less than 1000m over the northern region.

Moderate dust-haze condition with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5 km is anticipated over the Inland cities of the South during the forecast period.

Hazy atmosphere with intervals of sunshine is anticipated over the coastal cities of the South during the forecast period.

The agency also predicted a moderate dust haze over the north-central region with prospects of reduced horizontal visibility to 1000m or less over parts of Niger, Benue, Kwara and the Federal Capital Territory.

NiMet added that;

Moderate dust-haze condition with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5 km is expected over the Inland cities of the South during the forecast period.
Hazy atmosphere with spell of sunshine are anticipated over the coastal cities of the South during the forecast period.

The weather outlook indicated that there would be a thick dust haze on Wednesday with horizontal visibility of less or equal to 1,000m over the northern region during the forecast period.

Moderate dust-haze with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North Central region with prospects of reduced horizontal visibility to 1, 000m or less over parts Niger, Benue, Kwara and Nasarawa state.

Moderate fust-haze condition with horizontal visibility range of 2km to 5 km is expected over the Inland cities of the South during the forecast period.

Sunny and hazy conditions are expected over coastal cities of the South during the forecast period.

Public are advised to take necessary precautions due to dust particles presently in suspension over the atmosphere.

Individuals with respiratory ailments are to protect themselves as the current dusty weather condition is adverse to their health, the agency submitted.

As a result, it advised Nigerians to dress their children warmly because cold temperatures are expected at night.

The agency also advised all airline operators to obtain weather reports from its office on a regular basis in order to plan their operations effectively.
