Dele Alake, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, deserves to be arrested for allegedly stealing public funds through ‘Special Purpose Vehicles.’

This was stated by Alake, Special Adviser on Media, Communications, and Public Affairs to the APC Presidential Campaign Council, at a world press conference organized by the PCC’s joint media directorates in Abuja on Monday.

Remember that Atiku’s former media aide, Michael Achimugu, claimed to have knowledge of how the former Vice President laundered public funds using Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV).

An SPV is a type of business arrangement that allows companies to run a subsidiary independently of the parent company in order to reduce financial risk.

Alake told reporters that Atiku deserved to be arrested because of evidence that he abused his position as vice president from 1999 to 2007 by allegedly siphoning and looting public funds through the formation of SPVs.

The APC chieftain also slammed the media for their alleged silence on the PDP flag bearer’s allegations, adding that the allegations against Atiku should be thoroughly investigated by anti-graft agencies.

Alake was present at the conference, as was Festus Keyamo, Chief Spokesperson of the APC PCC; Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity; Femi Fani-Kayode, Director of Special Media Projects/New Media; and Idris Mohammed, Director of Strategic Communications.
