The Managing Director of Nasarawa State Urban Development Board (NUDB), Engr. Mohammed Wada Yahaya, has been suspended indefinitely without pay over destruction of campaign billboards across the State.

There have been complaints from candidates across political parties in the State including the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against the activities of Engr. Yahaya-led NUBD.

In a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of Nasarawa State, Barr. Muhammad Ubandoma Aliyu, with reference number: S/SSG/PARA/7/VOL.TV/58, titled, ‘Suspension Without Pay’, the State government directed that Engr. Yahaya should hand over the affairs of NUBD to the most senior officer I the agency with immediate effect.

“The attention of the Nasarawa State Government has been drawn to a series of complaints regarding the indiscriminate destruction of Billboards erected by politicians and their supporters; for the purpose of canvassing for votes in the 2023 general elections, inclusive of the ruling All Progressives Party (APC).

“The action by the NUDB under your supervision was undertaken without recourse for permission from constituted authority. Furthermore, it depicts insensitivity on the need to conduct the elections under an atmosphere free from acrimony and rancour.

“Consequently, the Executive Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has granted approval that you should proceed on indefinite suspension without pay due to the fact that the unwarranted destruction of the Billboards was tantamount to negligence, insubordination and misconduct.

“In the interim, upon the receipt of this letter, you are to strictly comply pending further thorough investigation.

“You are, therefore, directed to hand over the affairs of the Agency to the most senior Director with immediate effect, please,” the letter stated.
