Daniel Bwala, spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, claims that the governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are concerned about the naira redesign policy for selfish reasons.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the APC governors rejected the deadline for the phase-out of old naira notes, instead requesting that the new and old notes be used concurrently until the end of the year.

On Channels Television’s The 2023 Verdict on Monday, Bwala stated that the APC governors are unconcerned about the hardships Nigerians are experiencing as a result of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) policy.

Bwala stated that the governors are not concerned because they care about the people, but some of them have set aside funds for vote-buying during the general elections.

The PDP campaign organization’s spokesman also accused APC leaders of interfering with the distribution of naira notes to Nigerians.

He said:

We have established that these people are only reacting not because they care for the masses because the evidence shows the very opposite, that some of them have stashed money.

These same people are the ones frustrating the distribution of the naira to the Nigerian people through the payment platforms.

Bwala also described the CBN policy as the culmination of many APC policies that he claimed had caused suffering to the Nigerian people at various times.

He noted that the policy would not have been necessary in the first place if the ruling party had provided good leadership by keeping the promises it made to Nigerians.

When asked about his party’s stance on the naira redesign policy, Bwala stated that the party supports policies that provide good governance to the Nigerian people.

Bwala went on to say that the opposition party supports Nigerians having access to their own money in banks.

He said;

Our party is in support of free and fair election that is devoid of manipulation and vote buying. Our party is in support of Nigerian people having access to their own money in the banks. Our party is in support of policies that deliver good governance to the Nigerian people which the APC does not have at the moment.
