The NNPP’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has urged Nigerians to express their displeasure with the scarcity of naira notes “at the polls on February 25.”

On Thursday, Kwankwaso spoke in response to reports of tensions and fracas in some parts of the country.

Kano’s former governor expressed concern about the report. He urged Nigerians, however, to maintain law and order.

“I’m concerned about reports of tensions and fracas in some parts of the country over the biting effects of the Naira redesign policy,” Kwankwaso noted.

“While I maintain that the policy is ill-advised and timed.

“I call on all Nigerians to maintain law and order and to avoid violent reactions. I also urge all of us to express our collective anger at the polls on February 25. Let us all endure, persevere and keep our country safe.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday reintroduced old N200 notes into circulation to cushion the effect of naira scarcity.

The president, however, did not bow to requests and court orders to let all old notes coexist with the new notes.
