It was another day of rage in Enugu state as unknown gun men enforcing Monday sit-at-home order reportedly set a bus and market on fire.
The incident which happened in Umuida, Igbo-Eze North local government area of the state has thrown the community dwellers in total confusion.
An eye witness, James Itodo told WITHIN NIGERIA that ” it was about 12pm when a bus carrying tomatoes from northern part of the country was double-crossed with motor bike by some group of people in Umuida junction. They pulled the passengers out of the vehicle and shot two of them on the legs.”
Narrating further, Mr. Itodo explained that ” when they have succeeded in shooting both the driver and the passengers, these unknown gun men then set the vehicle ablaze.
” We also heard them shouting ” no election in the South-East zone, wotowoto is the code.”
Another source told our reporter that ” after setting the vehicle ablaze, these hoodlums went to Umuida market and equally set it on fire.”
WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that Monday is sacrosanct in the South East zone as a day “dedicated” for the civil disobedience against the continued detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Our reporter equally gathered no market opens on Mondays in the zone even as all the banks, motor parks, government offices and other essential services providers are always shot down on Mondays.
However, when contacted on phone, the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Mr. Daniel Ndukwe couldn’t pick up his call for confirmation.
