On Wednesday, the Supreme Court failed to issue a definitive ruling on the naira redesign/naira swap policy implemented by the federal government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
When the case before the Supreme Court resumed on Wednesday (today), there were hopes that it would issue a definitive ruling on the validity of the old naira notes, but that did not happen.
Before adjourning the case until March 3, 2023, after the presidential election, the Supreme Court stated that it would not be pressured to become a scapegoat in the country over the ongoing controversies surrounding the Naira redesign and swap policy.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that the Supreme Court has heard a case filed by the state governments of Kaduna, Kogi, Zamfara, and others against President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) seeking an injunction to prevent the government from implementing the February 10 deadline for old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes to cease being legal tender.
However, as the Supreme Court adjourned the case once more, some Nigerians took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the development.
Senator Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central lawmaker, was among those who revealed his thoughts, claiming that the Supreme Court’s decision on Wednesday left two fighting couples in the middle of the sea.

In any case, this old naria matter is dead as dodo. The old notes have lost trust of the people, even though the course reinstate them, not many people will accept and trade in them.
