#NigeriaDecides: ICPC Arrests Nine For Vote Buying, Unveils Their Identities

At least nine people have been arrested for alleged vote-buying in the presidential, senate, and house of representatives elections on Saturday.

The suspects were apprehended by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) in various states.

According to a statement issued by the Commission’s spokesperson, Azuka Ogugua, the individuals were apprehended on Saturday in the states of Osun, Ondo, Borno, Akwa Ibom, and Sokoto.

According to the statement, four of the vote buyers were apprehended by the ICPC’s Osun State Office, two by the commission in Sokoto State, and one by the anti-graft agency’s Ondo, Akwa Ibom, and Borno offices.

The ICPC identified the four-vote purchasers arrested in Osun State as Adewale Teslim, 32; Yemi Adebiyi, 42; Shake Idris, 36; and Emiola Joseph Oluwole, 69.

The suspects, who are in the custody of the Osun State Office, were discovered with documents containing lists of names, phone numbers, and account details of voters in the State during the election.

The Commission’s agents obtained a list of voters’ names and phone numbers from Adewale Teslim at Polling Unit 07, Ward 07, Ile Aganna in Olorunda Local Government Area, Osun State.

Yemi Adebiyi was arrested at Polling Unit 06, Ward 04 at Ikirun Junction, Ikirun, with a notebook containing over 100 names and account numbers. In contrast, Shake Idris was arrested at Polling Unit 6, Ward 10, Ofatedo area of Osun State, with a notebook containing over 100 names and account numbers.
