The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, says he won overwhelmingly and convincingly in Rivers state in the just concluded presidential and national assembly election.

Recall that INEC declared Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu winner of the election, saying that the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate polled a total of 8,794,726 to defeat his closest rivals and candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the LP who scored 6,984, 520 and 6,101,533 respectively.

However, Obi has gone to court to challenge the outcome and the result announced by the electoral umpire.

Speaking on Arise TV on Monday, Obi said he won more than 50% in Rivers States if the real votes were counted.

According to him, in spite of the fact that the Rivers Stae governor, Nyesom Wike came against him, at the February 25 presidential election, he still won over half of his state.

The former Anambra governors also argued that not only the Igbo ethnic people voted for him in Lagos State where he was declared the winner, but indigenous people in the state.

The Labour Party flag bearer also claimed that people of different ethnic extractions across the country voted for him during the February 25 presidential election.

He stated that “Some people said he got votes in Lagos because of Igbos. How many Igbos live in Lagos? I got more votes from indigenous people in Lagos than those you can call visitors. Is it Igbos who voted for me in Nasarawa, Plateau and Abuja? In Rivers where you know that the governor came out against me in everything if the real votes in Rivers were counted, I won more than 50% in the State”
