Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen have macheted a barber identified as Monday and kidnapped his son after invading Sobe community in Owan West Local Government area of Edo State.

It was gathered that the attack which occurred on Tuesday is coming two weeks after suspected herdsmen killed a pastor and two of his farm workers in the same community.

This is also the sixth attack the community has suffered this year.

In the latest attack, a barber identified simply as Monday was attacked with a machete and left for dead but he has been taken to a hospital where he is recovering from his wounds.

According to PUNCH, a source in the community who does not want his name in print for security reasons said, “It is yet another tragic moment for the people of Sobe community as suspected herdsmen invaded the community again on Tuesday.

“A barber called Monday and his family were attacked in their house in the night.

“The herdsmen laid ambush until he (Monday) came home and when they sighted him, they inflected him with machete cuts and left him in the pool of his own blood. The invaders also kidnapped one of Monday’s children and stole valuables.

“The victim was taken to the community health centre where he received treatment and is in a stable condition. But the herders are yet to reach the family of the kidnapped boy.

“The herdsmen then entered some parts of the community and started looking for vulnerable victims.”

The state police spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, when contacted on Wednesday, said he was yet to get the details of the incident.
