Taxi driver, fisherman arrested for raping minor in Adamawa

30-year-old taxi driver, Murtala Muhammed, and 53-year-old fisherman, Pwanbidon Obed, have been arrested by the police for raping minors in Numan Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

The state police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, who disclosed this in a statement said, Mohammed raped a 7-year-old girl in Numan, behind Demsa Guest Inn, and Pwanbido raped a 9-year-old girl in Ngwalti Village, Numan Local Government Area.

Nguroje said the suspects were said to have on March 31 at separate locations, lured their victims into an uncompleted and completed building respectively, and forcefully had undue carnal knowledge of them.

“The two incidents were reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Numan by the parents of the victims. Preliminary investigation reveals that, the former suspect is a taxi driver and the latter is a fisherman.”

The PPRO said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has directed the Officer in charge of the Family support unit to take over the investigation and ensure diligent prosecution of the case.
