The Action Alliance, AA, has petitioned the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to overturn Peter Mbah of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the winner of the March 18 election.

On April 12, 2023, the Tribunal acknowledged receipt of a copy of the AA’s Petition.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, also known as INEC, Mbah, and the PDP, who are the first, second, and third defendants, respectively, are joined as defendants.

The AA is asking the Tribunal to declare Mbah’s victory invalid on the grounds that the Electoral Act and other pertinent regulations were not followed in the lawsuit that it filed through its attorney, John C. Nwobodo.

The Chairman of the AA in Enugu State, Mr. Ogbonna Festus Okafor confirmed to journalists that the petition was filed after it studied the entire process of the election and allegedly observed that Mbah was declared winner by the INEC despite obvious irregularities.

AA equally alleged that Mbah submitted a questionable National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, certificate to the INEC and was therefore not qualified to stand for the election.

It could be re-called that Barr. Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party has also gone to the Tribunal to challenge Mbah’s emergence.
