The Federal Capital Development Authority’s management has announced the closure of the Nnamdi Motorway carriageway and the Area 1 roundabout in the territory to allow construction on the Interchange to continue.

The FCDA announced on Friday that the main carriageways and service lanes on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Motorway, at the Area 1 roundabout, coming from the Airport, and vice versa, will be closed between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, 23rd April and Sunday, 24th April 2023.

The Agency stated that the shutdown would result in the closure of all incoming traffic on the roads, and urged residents and motorists to take the alternative route provided by the contractor.

The message also stated that officers of the FCT Vehicle Inspection Office, the Police, and the Federal Road Safety Corps, had been informed of the arrangement, and will be on the ground to assist with traffic control at the roundabout and associated ramps.

While regretting the inconveniences the construction work may cause motorists, the Agency urged residents and motorists to comply with the announcements and directives of the agents charged with maintaining law and order on the roads.
