The Nigeria Police reacted to the murder of an officer, Sergeant Ifeanyi, in Delta state by gunmen.
On Friday, it was reported on social media that Ifeanyi had been murdered by his kidnappers.
Slain Ifeanyi until his death and was assigned to the Ughelli Area Command’s Eagle Net patrol team.
However, details about his murder remained scarce; according to reports, he was abducted on Thursday evening while returning home from official duty.
Mr Bright Edafe, the State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident on Saturday, saying, “The killed police officer was returning home after work.”
“He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Search for the assailants is on, and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”
Two months ago, gunmen killed three Police officers attached to the security team of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta.
In July last year, gunmen killed three Police officers in Okpanam, Oshimili Local Government Area of Delta State.
