The Zamfara State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have condemned the non-payment of two months’ salary to state civil personnel.

This information was provided to journalists in Gusau, the state capital, in a joint statement from the two labour unions, the NLC and TUC, which was signed by its chairs, Comrade Sani Halliru of the NLC and Comrade Saidu Mudi of the TUC.

The statement mentioned that a number of meetings were actively held regarding the aforementioned subject matter with participation from all parties involved to determine the best course of action.

Additionally, it stated that the two labour unions vehemently denounced the crime and expressed shock at the Zamfara State government’s careless decision to pay its employees’ salaries for two consecutive months.

The statement further explained that having patiently waited for the salary to be paid, the two labour unions are calling on the state government to save the lives of their workers and that of their families.

“The two Labour forces are concerned about how aggrieved the State civil servants are, We, however, crave for their indulgence, support and cooperation as we move to fight for their rights,” the union said.
