Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has praised Hilda Effiong Bassey, also known as Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, for exceeding the 96-hour target and setting a new record time of 100 hours.
WITHIN NIGERIA reports that Hilda was originally scheduled to stop at 4 p.m. today, surpassing the current Guinness World Record holder for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”
The Akwa Ibom woman started the competition on Thursday at 4 p.m. by turning on her cooker, and she surpassed the current world record holder on Monday morning.
If she is certified after the 100th hour, she will have surpassed the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who set the record in 2019 with 87 hours and 45 minutes of continuous cooking.
In a series of tweets sent from his verified Twitter account on Monday evening, Osinbajo congratulated Hilda on breaking the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”
The Vice President called the feat “extraordinary,” adding that Nigerians are all extremely proud of her.
He wrote:
Congratulations on breaking the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual”. What an extraordinary achievement! We are all immensely proud of you.
Hilda, as you set this new World Record, we are cheering you on, every step of the way! Go, Hilda, go!
