Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas explained that the poor state of the state’s primary and secondary schools compelled him to declare a state of emergency in the education sector.

He said this during an interview with reporters in Jalingo, the state capital.

He said his administration had fashioned out plans to give education the much-desired attention, adding that “we have templates of what we want all our schools to look like”.

The governor, who vowed to transform the sector before his first hundred days in office, said 80 percent of his Commissioners would be young persons that will assist in catapulting the state to enviable heights.

Kefas said his government would revive primary and secondary schools across the 16 local government areas of the state, including special development areas, saying the provision of infrastructure and building new schools where necessary are part of his plan.

The governor, it would be recalled, has recently sacked all Ishaku’s commissioners, special advisers, as well as heads of boards and parastatals.
